CORE CURRICULUM:
Hallam Valley Primary School provides a balanced, comprehensive and challenging curriculum and implements Victorian Essential Learning Standards Framework. There is a focus on developing sound skills in Literacy and Numeracy. Other key areas are taught through investigations and integrated curriculum model.
Specialist Programs include Information Literacies, Music, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Literacy Support.
The school has embraced the principals of learning and teaching, the staff are improving their practices through component mapping and setting goals under the Principles.
The continuing development and implementation of the You Can Do It Program and other wellbeing programs across the school ensures that curriculum and welfare are integrally linked.
The school has developed a learning technologies centre equipped with 28 computers, scanners, printers and digital cameras. Each classroom has four desk top computers. To provide extra access for students as we move into digital portfolios, 30 Lap Tops have been purchased to enrich the curriculum.

EXTRA CURRICULAR:
Hallam Valley offers a comprehensive range of opportunities for learning experiences outside the classroom activities. These activities occur at various times through the year and include:
PERFORMING ARTS:
Performing Arts at Hallam Valley is active and vibrant. Students from Prep to Grade 6 have the opportunity to a part of the yearly Production.
The choir provides the opportunity for our singers to perform at assemblies and for local community groups.

SPORTS:
In addition to a weekly hour session of physical education children in grade 3 to 6 participate in a weekly sport session. The also have the opportunity to represent their house in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country.
Students in Years 5 & 6 are encouraged to participate in Inter school sport activities, across a range of Sports.
The Hallam Valley Football League is another feature of term 3. This is a very popular competition.

CHESS:
Hallam Valley has a very popular Chess Club. The chess club is a lunch time activity and the club competes at interschool tournaments.

CAMPS:
Hallam Valley Primary School has a strong camping program. Our aim is to provide the students with a variety of experiences in different environments.
Grade 2 – Sleepover in the school gymnasium
Grade 3 – Camp Manyung a beach environment
Grade 4 – Camp Morton a bush environment
Grade 5 – Melbourne Camp a city experience
Grade 6 – Wilson’s Prom a bush experience under canvas.
